The Paris Effect by K.S.R. Burns
I’m trying to get through my Kindle Unlimited books so I figured I’d keep going on my European themed book kick and read The Paris Effect.
The book is about Amy who had very recently lost her bestest friend (Kat) to cancer. While Kat was alive, they made plans to visit Paris together but unfortunately she died before they could go. So Amy goes to Paris and it sorta kinda transforms her??
The first 75% of the book was pretty good – except for the whole diet rules which annoyed me after a while. Then the story just got weird. I understand one of the characters was meant to be a bit kooky but it was just outright strange. And the ending seemed to be really rushed. Like “oh-shoot-I-only-have-100-pages-until-I’ve-hit-my-word-count-let’s-wrap-it-up”.
I have to say, I’m pretty disappointed – the premise was good but it just turned out to be pretty peculiar.
It is available on Kindle Unlimited so let me know if you get a chance to read it and if you like it – after all, you may end up loving it.
